The Circle

Angel Island Visitor Center

The Circle is a visitor center on the historic West Garrison site of Angel Island in San Francisco Bay. Designed as an extension of the island’s landscape, the project derives its form from existing topography. Gentle terracing and low, curving geometries settle into the slopes, while circulation emphasizes movement and discovery. Visitors move fluidly between indoor exhibitions, sheltered outdoor paths, and elevated viewpoints that echo hiking the island. Green roofs extend the natural vegetation, reinforcing architecture as landscape.
